What We Do
Support For Nurses
“School nursing is an area of practice that is unique, complex, and challenging. It is often practiced without immediate in-person consultation and support and is governed by state and federal laws.”
Typically, school nurses are isolated in the schools with no peer group to counsel with, principals that may not know what they do, and may not view them as essential to education. They have little time or budget to keep up with clinical developments, respond to administrators and parents–and sometimes with little or no assurance they are following current protocol–possibly creating risk to students and liability to the school district and themselves.
So, why do they do it and do it so cheerfully?
They do it because they love what they do and love the students in their care.
Our mission is to educate school health professionals in the latest clinical developments and research to help maintain a safe, quality practice competency in the K-12 environment. Our publications concentrate in the areas of Health Services, Health Education, Safe School Environment and Regulatory Compliance.
School Health Alert is the most respected publisher of evidence-based clinical guidelines for school nurses in the U.S. and our editors are among the most prominent in the profession.
